Q: Who or what is Cupid?
A: According to Roman mythology Cupid was the Roman God of Love (and Beauty). Cupid is normally represented as a picture or statue of a beautiful boy with wings and a bow and arrow.

According to wikipedia he was also known by another of his Latin names, Amor. Plus, he was the son of goddess Venus and god Mars.

In popular culture Cupid is frequently shown shooting his bow to inspire romantic love, often as an icon of Valentine's Day. He is now in the current culture the personification of love and courtship in general.

Q: Difference between Quote and Quotation?
A:
A quote is a Verb and a quotation is a Noun. Nowadays they are used interchangeably but they are defined as follows:

Quote: To quote means to 'repeat' or write out words, a phrase or a sentence from a book or speech, whilst acknowledging the original author of those words.

Quotation: A quotation is the actual phrase or a sentence from a book or a speech that reflects the original author's thoughts.

In effect a quote is where you are 'quoting' a 'quotation'.

Note: Although we allow you to copy the quote we are not in a position to authorise use of the quote. That would need to be done through the original author or company who first published the quote.

Please get in touch if you find any errors, either in the quoted words or the author name, of any quotes featured on our site.

A: Yes, you certainly can and we very much welcome and encourage this practice. And once we receive your quote we will do our own quick reference check and if it's not already in our database we will feature it on our Home Page, citing your name too as the provider.

Please submit your quote here.
